OP, what are you trying to achieve? Because depending on what you want, there are different ways to approach it as well as different products and amounts.

I'd look at doing the inner and outer skin of your doors (no need to attack the door's trim panels unless you have some crazy system) with a single layer of sound deadener (start with that, you can always add more), followed by the trunk, truck lid, and roof.

I'm all for going crazy with sound deadening, but there is no need to be wasteful and apply it to areas and places that won't matter.

sorry, lol, my iphone "corrected" deadener.

im doing my door panels somewhat like steve did his. im only going to have 1 Rockford P2 8" and 1 set of T1652-S in the front driver and passenger side doors. also my truck is an 2002 TrailBlazer LTZ and im going for straight SQ. i dont want to hear any road noise if possible.

BTW, how much sound deadener would i need to deaden the roof and front/rear and back hatch door skins?

If you're going for SQ, I would go with vibration mat and a MLV (mass loaded vinyl) barrier.

I'd go with 8 0 to 120 sq. ft. of sound deadener to tackle all of those areas. Some people use more, some people use less.

Go with one, unless you have some serious flexing issues.

A solid 100% butyl mat with a thick aluminum layer plus a MLV will do wonders for SQ.
