skittlesRgood Posted April 19, 2011 Report Posted April 19, 2011 most amps crossover will not be enough to run active. the simplest reason being the high pass filter goes to about 400hz. a tweeter needs to be crossed over at 3000-8000hz, depending on the setup. sending a tweeter 400hz+ will kill it. If I answered you in a well mannered, informative way, you asked a good question or had a good attitude. If I was an asshole, you asked a stupid question or you had a fucktard attitude... or I was in a bad mood. skittlesRgood Posted April 19, 2011 Report Posted April 19, 2011 it is, partly. getting a person from 0-100% is not what the forum in intended for. there are write up and stuff to get you 50% of the way. then you come here to sort out the kinks. just do a little google searching, read on BCAE1.com, you will get there. If you have a crossover supplied with a component set, use it and switch off any x-over on your amp(s). They will be perfectly designed to work with the drivers while the x-over in an amp is generic and may not match the drivers x-over points or slope as well. a seperate active crossover can work well IF you set it correctly, taking the mids and tweets and their needs into account.
