Road noise

I want to deaden my trunk pretty soon with something like damp or audiotechnix, anything will beat the PnS I have now. I see lots of guys wrapping their whole car in deadener in build logs on here and I figure I'll do that once my budget allows it, but I'm more concerned with road noise. I get horrible road noise in the cabin of this car, there is no deadening between the flimsy door panel and the actual door itself along with many other places. So will simple sound deadener work for reducing road noise? And if so, will one layer of something like 60 mil do the trick? or would I need more? Thanks.

Yes, something as simple as a single layer of mat applied to your door will help with reducing road noise.

The best way to combat road noise (which typically consists of wind, tire, engine, and exhaust noise) it is to create a sandwich of sound deadening.

For floors this can be achieved with an acoustical undercoating applied on the outside (undercarriage and wheel wells) and with a vibration mat and/or a MLV (mass loaded vinyl) installed in the interior of the vehicle.

Doors, apply some vibration mat and if possible, a noise barrier. If you can get a noise barrier (such as a MLV) applied between you and the source of the noise you will be amazed at how much it will reduce the noise level.
