T3 Subwoofer Help

Recommended Posts

I had recently decided to create a system for my single cab pickup I had bought a Dual deck and a Dual 150 watts rms amp and 2 a T3 Audio T-12s4 subwoofer. I had built two boxes and the dimensions are: Width 24", Height 19 1/2", Depth 1 11 1/2", Depth 2 7 1/2", the port is 18 3/4 x 1 and 14 " deep, the wood is 3/4" thick and it is tuned at around 40 hertz. The first sub was broken i have yet to fix it the tinsel leads were coming off the cone. The other sub is now making a very loud rattling noise it had never before, I have checked at about every place where something could be loose and cause rattling and nothing seemed to solve the problem. I tried to switch it into the other box and it made the same noise. I am sure the sub is not "bottoming out" because it doesnt take much power to rattle it. Please help! I miss my nice, clean, unrattled bass.

If you bought them from a dealer and still have a warranty i would just send them back or contact T3 Audio JDor ED, And from reading your specs of the boxes, it seems that both may be too large for the subs you have . If they are the T-200s, your box should be 1.5 ft3 ported and for the t-400s it's 1.75 ft3 ported. your gross volume is 2.28 ft3 before port displacement.

I looked into it more and I noticed that the rattling seems to occur when it wants to. It can play a song for a while with no rattling then it will start to rattle. If I pause it for 10 seconds and play it again it seems to stop it, but not before it starts to rattle again. I was wondering if maybe this could be a problem with the electrical system somwhere, maybe the amps are wired poorly, too thin of wire, or something. I am almost certain that the sub is not deffective. Also thanks for informing me about my box I thought it was alot smaller, I must of used a bad box calculator or something.
