rpelkey13
This is what I've started working on for my Xterra. This isn't a full range build, mainly just for bass, seeing as I'm on a budget(no job) and that's where the stock system is most lacking. This is my first REAL build. What I had before was just some old house boxes shoved into the back and hooked up with a 40w EQ. Yes, I know, redneck as hell. So, let the fun begin! Oh, and all pics are off of a phone, so quality isn't that good. What I'm starting with. It's pretty good to use, seeing as there is plenty of room in the back. My head unit. Nothing special, a Sony Xplod GT25, 52w max x4, 17w rms x4. My amp. Definitely nothing special, a DP Audio 250w max x2. Remember, BUDGET. One of the subs that are going in, Pyle PLW12BL, 800w max, 400w rms. Ooooh, priddy. Now! On to the actual building! The box is made out of 3/4" OSB(or plywood, not really sure about the differences), measures 37.5"x17.5"x17.5", and is about 5.26 cubes. This is it after constructing and siliconing(if that's a word) it. The top of the box. Look carefully and you can see the cutout lines. This is all for now, but I should have more pics to post in a few days. Quote Future winner of RSOTM: Redneck System of the Month
Quiet
I like to see what people can do with little money... please brace the hell out of that box! OSB is probably not the best substrate for subwoofer enclosures. But atleast it's not prefab Quote 2007 Pacifica Rebuild. Less quiet. Still not loud. rpelkey13
Won't be posting anything today, but I'll try for later this week. The silicone decided to be ec on me and not set, so I'm not putting the subs anywhere near it until it's completely dry. rpelkey13
Update: Decided to cut the holes out of the face while waiting for the silicone to set(probly be waiting a LONG time). Those are 11" holes, just to give you an idea of the size. Quote Future winner of RSOTM: Redneck System of the Month
rpelkey13
Box is pretty much done, just have to upload pics. Here's of box getting top screwed on. Will post more pics later. For now though, it gets loud. I was going down road with it on little less than half of max, and suddenly my dash lights went out(I always drive with headlights). I stopped and looked around, and finally checked the fuse box. Apparently I shook the fuse loose. I went ahead and duct taped it for the future. rpelkey13
But it's so shiny in person! And they were only $30 each, so that was a "priddy" good price. rpelkey13
Time for an update! I've had my box done for a while, and have been riding around with it. You may say that Pyle sucks, DP Audio sucks, and that 50w rms to each subs isn't enough. Well, It does sound pretty nice to me seeing as this is for daily listening(school) and not for competition, although I do believe that I am now the loudest at school . Anyway, I did discover that the box did take a good bit of my room away in my car, so I decided that instead of porting it like I was going to, I cut the whole thing in half. Now, it is more suited to the subs, seeing as the dumbass who's site I looked at for info said I needed 2-3 cubes for each sub, and I now have about 1.2 cubes for each. I'll get some pics of it all painted and in the back soon though. Quote Future winner of RSOTM: Redneck System of the Month
