texasbred
Hello, it has been a few years since I have had some bass in a ride. I have built a few boxes, but didn't build them right, got in a rush, didn't have good knowledge, didn't ask for advice, etc. So I want to run two 15" AQ HDC315's. Downloaded the infamous Torres calculator and came up with this. Dimensions: Height-22" Width-36" Depth-20" Specs: Ports- Two 6" aeroports, 13" long for each one Port Area- 56.52 sq. inches Net Volume- 6.84 cu. ft.(sub displacement not included) Tuned 34.04 Hz Extra Baffle- 1 Am I missing anything? Is the box too small? I can't go much bigger without doing a wall. I have 3.42cu.ft. for each sub(before displacement). I am open to suggestions, this will be going in the cargo hatch of an 09 GTI 2door. Any help, or helpful criticism is appreciated. I'm guessing that the calculator is planning me installing subs and ports facing towards the back of the car? BTW, I plan on starting the box this weekend. The full build will probably take me a year due to wife's college, kids, two car notes, and saving for a house. Thanks Dustin Edited May 27, 2011 by texasbred Quote 2011 Chevy CC Texas Edition 2wd. dkahns51
What is your port area per inch squared? It should be 12-18 i think. Mine 2 15's are 6.5cubs after displacement works fine here. texasbred
Cool, another Dustin. If I'm reading it right port area per foot is 8.26 I'm having a difficult time adding port area while keeping the tune and not sacrificing much box volume Edited May 27, 2011 by texasbred Quote 2011 Chevy CC Texas Edition 2wd. texasbred
Does anyone think maybe I am trying to tune too low? I don't have a lot of experience making and tuning boxes so input would be great. Car- VW GTI 2door Music- Everything but country and classical I don't honestly know why I have been stuck on the 32-34 Hz tuning. Also I don't if the size of the car makes a difference. bassrace
32 is what my 12s are tuned to. Double your current port area to like 16 cu in per cu ft Quote 145.9@40hz 145.3@34hz big 3 X2 group 34 Deka Group 31 All 0/1 awg jl meta wire Alpine CDA 7894 Orion HCCA D5000 2 AQ HDC312's Crunch gpv1100.2 (for 6.5"s only) AQ pro audio 6.5" - 3 sets AQ supertweeters - 2 sets 2000 Slamry
