its supposed to "restore" lost bass due to compression from mp3's, but it's basically just an outboard bass booster that will boost frequencies from 25-65Hz

Isnt that just sending a clipped signal? or is it safe to use? when it comes to these things i am very careful or am i just being a wimp?

Is it possible to use one of these safely? Yes. Is it easy to send a clipped signal? You bet. I personally would not run one. If you want to do a little bit of boosting, you probably already have enough EQ's in your deck and on your amp.
