Tang Band or Tang Band?

btw that 150 rms rating is a joke on all of those neo woofers

i have to work to make mine warm. i had them stinky once and that was at a competition that was like 90 degrees so the subs started warm. not to mention the 3 hour drive before hand that i was beating on them like brandon said lol

Thanks. I'm really liking what I'm reading about them.

Ok, this isn't one of those "which sub will give me more of teh deebeez" threads. I'm trying to figure out which one will work better for my application.

I'm looking at getting either the Tang Band W8-740P http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=264-854 or the W8-1363SB http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=264-833 . I plan on running two of them ported with around 150 watts each. This is for daily listening, and I listen to about everything. I don't plan on competing.

Assuming that installation is correct in both cases (or as close as I can get it :noob: ), from a technical standpoint, which sub would be a better choice? Or should I just flip a coin?

i'd pick the one with teh moar powah handling, but that's just me lol.

hmm the one rated for 30 more watts or the one 3db more efficient? i go for efficiency. you can always drive more power if you know what you are doing.

Tang Band W8-1363SB gets my vote.

they both have a 84dB efficiency... :pardon:

specs are near the same but i like the 1st choice better & its cheaper.

i still need to buy some tang band products... :drinks: .

ya, read that again. one is 84db at 1w. the other is 84db at 2.8w

If I answered you in a well mannered, informative way, you asked a good question or had a good attitude. If I was an asshole, you asked a stupid question or you had a fucktard attitude... or I was in a bad mood.

That's one thing that keeps bringing me back to them. Trying to get loud on a very small budget.

copied from wikipedia:

Driver ratings based on the SPL for a given input are called sensitivity ratings and are notionally similar to efficiency. Sensitivity is usually defined as so many decibels at 1 W electrical input, measured at 1 meter (except for headphones), often at a single frequency. The voltage used is often 2.83 VRMS, which is 1 watt into an 8 Ω (nominal) speaker impedance (approximately true for many speaker systems). Measurements taken with this reference are quoted as dB with 2.83 V @ 1 m.

sorry for T/J OP.

sub #1: SPL: 84 dB 2.83V/1m

sub #2: SPL: 84 dB 1W/1m

same thing =].

somebody needs to read the car audio cookbook again... :pardon:

ok, then you tell me how this speaker has both 2.8 and 1 ratings with different numbers.

looking it up? ill answer it for you. 2.8v in an 8ohm load comes to 1w. but that is a 4ohm speaker so its 2w. not 1.

guess you are wrong about who needs to read up.
