Cardboardcat15
yea man you can definitely get that welded or have some one mock up a new bracket. and weld it on. the welds n the bracket are a bit sloppy. but also thats a hard place to get into and weld, but a professional should of done a better job. I'll get a video tomorrow of it just so I can get a pool of reviews. He's never said he was a "professional" welder, but he's been the mechanic on all of our cars for the past 15 years, and he built sand cars a while back so I hoped he would do a good job. The welds have held up so far, and I don't see anything wrong with them yet, it's just that the bracket snapped in this particular area, which is what I don't understand. Plus, I'm not even sure if I want to use this same bracket (it's the stock bracket, moved back a bit). seeing as how the bracket broke there, I'm afraid if fix this, the bottom arm which is thinner will snap. Cardboardcat15
Welp, another little update. Sold off the D3400 to a fellow SMD'er, Blue. Needed the cash to pay my ticket. So now I am currently rolling bassless. I'm thinking about ordering a cheapo Lanzar 8" or something, and dabble with ported box building. Just a thought. My Channel on YouTube. r0llinlacs
I'm bassless too atm while my amp is being repaired. I should say I was so tired of being bassless that I hooked my sub to deck power, but nobody wants to admit to something like that.
Rich65
Wow man your story is interesting but awful at the same time. You seem to have done all the right things but had so many obstacles that you got overwhelmed. Also i wouldnt worry about the aluminum bracket, its not like steel you can weld and reweld aluminum as many times as you want and it will be just as strong as the rest of it. The bottom part of the bracket doesnt have the same amount of stress as the top part so it shouldnt crack. One thing i did notice though is that possibly the bolt you are using to bolt the alternator in may actually be sinking into the bracket and spreading it, creating more pressure on that bracket. Maybe you can put a washer on that bolt to relieve it.
