bAsShEaD33
To start, I have 2 15's and a 3000 watt amp. The amp settings have been the same for a few months. I never turn the volume up past 29/40. (stock components start to distort) They have sounded great up until tonight when I got off work and was giving a demo. When I opened the trunk my subs were giving off this really bad distortion, almost as if they were blown. They still hit just as hard but I still get the distortion even at lower volumes. . . Any idea what it could be??
vettedude102
Did you shut the trunk then try playing them if so did they sound normal? bAsShEaD33
and that has never happened before either, always still sounded good with the trunk open - as good as they can with an open trunk lol
vettedude102
It may be cause like the area changed. I don't know quite how to explain but like it issealed in the car then you open the trunk then its not sealed. So it just sounds different. I could be wrong, if so then hopefully someone else can chime in. shoot well idk what it could be then. My next advice is a dd-1. ChevyBoy95
the cabin pressure changes when doors and trucks/hatches get opened. Which can cause bottoming out and such. Maybe when you open the truck the subs are over excurting and they dont like it. Blackedout
Check for loose RCAs. What deck are you running? Sub level at 0, "lows" setting at 0. What do you have your gains set to on the amp? Is the bass boost turned up? Quote Trunk Build Log
bAsShEaD33
That's what I thought it might be but out of all the times that I have opened the trunk with the music on it has never sounded like they were blown. So much so I turned the headunit completely off until I can check all the wiring in the morning - I hope but doubt thats what it is. . . I have the bass setting at 3 on the deck. the gain is at 3/4 and the bass knob never goes more than half way up.
