KeepItLow91 Posted July 29, 2011 Report Posted July 29, 2011 Is there a magical number of square inches of port per foot/port area when dealing with aeroports or does the parameters of the sub(s) and power supplied determine how much port you need? I was told by someone who seemed to know a decent bit about what they were talking about and he said 9-13sq inches of port is recommended. I've been told different and just don't know who to actually trust... I have a bunch of 8" sewer pipe at my house and was going to make a box with one port 24" long and flare both ends. The box will be 4.64 cu.ft. after all displacement, tuned to 31hz. Port volume 0.74, 50.24 port area and 10.83 port area per foot. I was told by some online calculator that for the 24mm Xmax I'd need like 85" of port area or something lol. Is my design fine or am I going at this all wrong? Sub will be getting a little over 1k watts.
