dcofer
I currently have two 12" kicker L5's in the back of my jeep grand cherokee in ~5 cuft. ported enclosure but I would like to free up some of my cargo space for practical use. It is running off of a Hifonics BXI1606D amp with 1600wrms @ 1ohm. I am looking at switching to two 10" FI SSD's wired to 1ohm to use the full potential of the amp and drop them into ~2 cuft. sealed fiberglass enclosure. I am not sure how this would change the quality and loudness of the system. I know this is a biased forum towards FI and from what ive seen well backed, but i would like to know if this would be a good switch. being in college i am trying to go with the best deal for my money for the time being and i am open to other suggestions as well. thanks for the input, Derek
ARMYSGT_D
i used to be a die hard kicker fan ive tryed fosgate t112 kicker l7 kove etc....... in my opinion l7 are loud but they sound like shit. if u want to sound good and want your music to sound good i would definately take the ssd 10 copper coil. the ssd have more excursion better power handleing and they would sound better ive never heard of 2 many people using l5 (wonder why?) ive you just want louder get bls or q's my l7 12's and sx1250 didnt have shit on 2 q's ported with just a older 1500bd Quote current set-up kenwood ddx 712 clarion eq focal 165 k2p front focal 165v2 rear 2 re audio sexxx 12 us amps md3d us amps md42 1 optima yellow top (rear) 1 xs power 5100r (front) big 3 and 1 run 1/0 stinger wire my build my rebuild

sactownstang
actually there are a TON of people using the L5's ...don't know where you got logic likewise they don't?? Ya i see mostly the SOLOx 18's lot's of L7 not many L5 Hell aren't the L7 the "better performance" sub? who would want a L5 inless you just can't afford the L7.. I have seen drop in's on cars, pulling woofer "X" out, they go up .3 to .5 with L7, drop an L5 in go up over 1.0 db....depends on power, smaller power, like 1000 per sub, sometimes the L5 will be louder than the L7. the L5 is more effecient and will have a faster imp rise over an L7, when ported, and higher power/lower impedance setup.
