  1. look at Q Logic, they make some cool downfiring sub boxes, but stick with 10's...under the seat, you get really cramped for 12's.
  2. we (Kicker) have new stackable amps, the IX5004, and IX1000.1
  3. look for the book written by David Vizard. Best book you can by, and for $14.00 http://www.amazon.com/How-Rebuild-Your-Sma...y/dp/1557880298
  4. I say change the box if your not happy, the equipment is free, you already have it
  5. you'll laugh, but if you feel your missing some of the higher freq, seal them.........
  6. is there something wrong with the 8 cubes you have now? 6.0 per driver is MAX what I'd do.....but think, you have a 1000.1 powering two 15's.....imagine a 1000.1 PER driver, or a 2500.1........
  7. Met Scottie (which i have known for years) at CES, man he got us all excited here at work about XS Power. Looks like XS has some new, exciting stuff coming down the pike, ought to be a great 2010.
  8. final impedance will be 1 ohm, so here are just a few. http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_17598_...+BXi+1610D.html http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_6190_P...ik+A2400DB.html http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_17654_...+BXi+2010D.html http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_17555_...9+Edition-.html http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_17599_...+BXi+2610D.html
  9. you wanna say, or they are dual 4's...very important, as well as a needed budget.
  10. break in is more for sound, loosing the suspension,,etc for optimal parameters.
  11. so you have the 1200d on two vented CVR 12's? If so, depending on settings on amp, that may be your issue. Too much power, depending on settings, clipping, etc.
  12. if you have power, your alt and battery is fine, clean connection at the starter, or may be a battery cable going out, so you can change positive and negative, relatively cheap and easy fix.
  13. two things really help make a subwoofer 'louder', Sd and Xmax. Even with the low Xmax, everyone knows the L series can get loud, so kinda hard now to debate because of the low 'ratings' on Xmax they can't get loud. Another little secret, they have more Xmax that stated because of the T cut top plate. ( changes how the measurement is taken) In a ported box, IMHO, yes, you will see get louder due to more Sd. OP: if sealed, do CVX, also small ported larger room ported, L7
  14. crack between cylinder walls, toast, unless you want to sleeve it, IMHO, blocks are cheap, get rid of it.
  15. true, now you know box peak, for car peak, shut car off, put on charger. get note CD and start testing, burp at X freq, record, allow a few seconds to recharge, coil to cool, go up 1 hz, burp, record, etc, etc.
  16. now you know where you peak, now build accordingly. When you start low, like 30hz and do a sweep up, you heat coils and loose voltage. So imagine hitting it at the tuned frequency
  17. you'll need a comp box, and daily box...if your cars frequency is in mid 50's and your box is tuned into the 30's, there's your problem.
