Phoenix Gold Oz
One of the boys put together a little compilation of the windscreen smashing (brightened t up a little so it's easier to see) and also added some footage of the next day when we separated the windscreen since the glue hadn't quite set yet Enjoy! Phoenix Gold Oz
Hi All, Well we've done a bit of work since the last video we posted up smashing the windscreen. We decided to build a removable frame that would sit on the the windscreen to help reinforce it a bit. The frame was made with ABS strips that were heated and formed to the shape of the windscreem then we built MDF uprights that contoured to the ABS and attached them together. A steel frame was then built to attach all 5 of the uprights together and help spread the load across the entire thing. Last but not least we had some hook brackets attached to the steel subframe of the dash so that we could ratchet strap to them and hold the whole thing snuggly. We put one small crack in the top corner of the windscreen during the building/testing of the uprights without the metal frame, but even with that small crack the sindcreen has not smashed apart, the crack has spread a little but that is all.
