man thanks for this i have a 78 Caprice this really helped me i should have my car next week and get my pulleys on i got the same alternator im surprised mechman dont tell us that from the get go

The units we sell by application are designed for your OEM pulley system. We will discuss this as an issue when the customer requests higher amperage than recommended.

Belt slip is the biggest problem with these units running the v-belt due to the load of the alternator on the belt. With the multi-rib belt the contact area is dramatically increased and can handle a much higher load. On vehicles like the OP's car with the CS144 we now offer a 320a custom Denso unit suitable for vehicles running the multi-rib belt.
