Pittcrew
Hi, I want to get into designing boxes but I've never done it before. I was wondering if someone could design me a box using Torres box calculator for a single 18" Fi BTL N2, tuned to approximately 33 hz. I would like the subwoofer to be facing up, with the port(s) facing back. The main thing is I'm not really sure how to design a port, if someone could provide a detailed explanation on the process of using the calculator to design a box to your desired results that would be great. Because I really am not sure how to decide the shape, number, and length of a port. Thanks to anyone who is willing to help me with this. P.S. this is an actual box design that I would make and use, as I'm planning on getting a BTL soon, and it would be going in a trunk. Pittcrew
Ok, so I gave it a shot. There is probably something really wrong with this, but I don't really know anything about boxes so this was my best attempt. If anyone could kindly tell me what is wrong with this, that would be appreciated here's the calc: and here is what the box would look like: So yeah, please tell me what I need to fix. jeyrapboy
Some tips Deside on what port setup you want From top to bottom the port configurations are 0 common port walls 1 common port walls 2 common port walls 3 common port walls Decide which one you want Im pretty sure your shooting for 3 common port walls (popular type of box) for this your box your port must extend the full face of the box so height of box - wood thickness so 18- 1.50 = 16.5 would be your port height, Then you can mess with your dimensions from there. Also you wanna make sure your "port area" is within the "port area range" Edited September 11, 2011 by jeyrapboy
