Souldrop Posted September 12, 2011 Report Posted September 12, 2011 Hello, a couple months ago I noticed one of the voice coils was dead on my RF T2. I've been using it for the mean time on one coil, but now I have a new subwoofer coming and am interested in possibly repairing the T2. I would like to do it myself as don't have the desire to send it in to get it repaired; I am also interested in one day building a woofer and figure this would be a good segue into that territory. As far as I can tell all I really need is a new stock 4" coil as everything still moves freely and as I'm not doing anything "custom" to it, but please correct me if I'm wrong. Is it a possible diy fix or will it be impossible? STEvil Posted September 12, 2011 Report Posted September 12, 2011 depends where the coil is damaged but if you cant see the damage then 99% of the time its done for. Any time you have have a power wire next to your frame put some rubber hosing (or cut up an innertube) around it. The wire is bound to wiggle (due to driving or flex) and the casing will eventually wear through. Hammerdown... 1% no links to outside websites, business related FB/YT pages allowed.
