4th order bandpass box

Recommended Posts

I read that you take the maximum size of the recommended sealed enclosure for the sealed chamber, but how do you calculate volume of the ported chamber? Also is tuning the port the same as a regular ported enclosure?

You tune higher with a bandpass box. The volumes used in each chamber are determined by the subs being used and the end result(response curve) that you're looking for.

if you want a flat resp go vented size half of the sealed side

if you want loud and a number vented side should be roughly 2x the sealed side

  • 5 months later...

I'm trying to design a 4th order through the armrest for 2 sundown e12's for an Acura tl and I'm using the calculator at http://www.carstereo.com/help/Articles.cfm?id=27

I'm wanting to know if the calculator is correct, and is the F3(L) the low end tuning frequency of the whole box or just the ported side?
