Purplehaze
And now for more sanding! Blow it all out a lil... More filler around the port opening Then after getting it baby-butt smooth, time to finish the last of the bracing. This is where she sets now, tomorrow she gets resin first thing! Slowly but surely... Purplehaze
Thanks to all for all the kind words! Here is what all I got done today. First I added more bracing 15 total triangles, 8 up top and 7 at the bottom. Also I added bracing in the port. Then I flipped it upside down to start the resin fun! Then, I got my brother to weld me up a resin mixer! There we have the first "mix" of resin One good coat all inside and drying Then when it got dark I moved it in to the building for the night More to come... Purplehaze
Hey guys, I didn't manage to get much done today, due to the rain. But I did make a trip to Lows, and picked up a few things.. And from now on it's a gallon at a time or more. No sense in not having enough, like yesterday! Tomorrow is supposed to be clear, so check back for more then! Oh, and click here to leave comments or feedback. Thank you! Purplehaze
Well, I got a little more done today. Slowly but surely! Anyway on to the pics. I decided to glass up the baffle, so I hit it with a couple of layers of chop and a little cloth to help me get the chop off my gloves! Here is the board I still need to attach, I am waiting till the very last so I can get in to the box easier for sanding. But I went ahead and masked it off and gave it a good even first coat of resin, so it will be easier tomorrow when I attach it and finish the inside up! Stay tuned, moar to come... Purplehaze
Okay, so I got some more done, here's the pics! First, I sanded the inside Then I threw a little paint inside the port and on the bottom side of the baffle Then it was finally time to glue on the final side. notice how I had already coated it w resin! Then, how about some resin 45's! And I took everything out, and she's ready for her first test run tomorrow! Stay tuned for video update! Purplehaze
Okay, so I got some more done today, and FINALLY got to hear this beast! but first, I still had some sanding to do. Then, once it was all smooth, I installed a couple of bolts temporally for terminals. I will run wire direct from amp to subs, I just did this to test, & so the impedance would would raise to over 2 ohm, so the amp wouldn't protect. Worked like a charm! Then to get it in the car. It's tight to say the least. But I have plans for this... Need to cut out a "base" Then time to wire up the subs. They are wired parallel/series for a nominal load of 1.34ohms. Which, after rise must be over 2ohms, since the amp never did protect Subs up port back baby FTW!!! I took a video, but my camera mic decided not to work anymore. So tomorrow I'll get a camera and make a couple of videos! I can say this much, she definitely likes the low stuff now! I'm gonna hit up decaf and bigpimpin now! And my buddy SPLWGN too! Thanks for all the feedback, it really means a lot! This week I'll start making it pretty! More to come, stay tuned! Oh, and please post comments here. Thanks again! Purplehaze
Anyone wanna see a lil test video? Okay, it's not much since I still need a camera. But it's a little teaser till I finish the outside of the box. Which won't be long, this week if weather permits. Anyway here you go! Like I say, crappy video. TRUST me, it is doing WAY more than I EVER thought it was capable of! Hopefully I'll get it on a meter soon! I'm gonna say 45's - @-40hz! My previous best w 2 subs on the same amp was 141.1@47hz Stay tuned for more! Please leave comments here. Purplehaze
What's up peeps? Got some more done the past few days, but none of it was actually done to the box... I had to get the car ready, move a bunch of stuff. Mostly boring pics, but part of the build, so here they are. First I started pulling all the panels. So I could remove the breaker box, all the cables, and the crossovers Spare wires anyone? Then I started running the new wire Sexy! Then I pulled the front seats to mount the 4ch in it's new home And how bout a new nifty spot for the crossovers, right close to the amp, out of the way And after sever hours of re-routing wires, I was getting close All done! Neat and out of the way! From the back, seat slid all the way forward And the new crossover rack (still needs covered) And last for today, I got the base cut. Tomorrow I'll get some carpet and try to get more done. I'm thinking about just covering the box in carpet, to save time, since it's getting cold. Plus I'd like to save the glassing idea for my upcoming DC build! Please leave comments here. Purplehaze
Okay, well after much thought, and some help from some of you, I decided to go ahead and paint the box. So today, the first thing I did was to get the base attached to the car Then I started filling holes and sanding and routing Stay tuned, more to come! Please leave comments here.
