I have a Dual hu that has 2 volt pre-outs. I have a Zx1000.1 and an RE MX18d2 (1500rms rating). The ZX puts out 1000 Watts @ 2 ohms and 500 Watts at 4 ohms. My current configuration has the ZX gain about half way and its seeing a 4ohm load from the MX18. I don't have access to oscilloscope or DD-1. My question is; Can I safely use 1 coil of my MX18 and adjust the gain as to not send full power to the sub?

sounds like you need to get an amp that is stable at 1ohm :drinks:

there is some VERY hard headed people out there. Anyone who says a DD-1 isnt necessary is also saying an O-scope isnt necessary. Anyone who says an O-scope IN THE MINIMUM isnt necessary, is a noob. Forget the DD-1 for a minute, any reputable installer will at LEAST use an O-scope. Those guys in that thread are clowns. Hard headed clowns.
