CHEVY4X4BLAZER
I have a Dual hu that has 2 volt pre-outs. I have a Zx1000.1 and an RE MX18d2 (1500rms rating). The ZX puts out 1000 Watts @ 2 ohms and 500 Watts at 4 ohms. My current configuration has the ZX gain about half way and its seeing a 4ohm load from the MX18. I don't have access to oscilloscope or DD-1. My question is; Can I safely use 1 coil of my MX18 and adjust the gain as to not send full power to the sub? CHEVY4X4BLAZER
The coil will start to smell/smoke if it can't take the power right? My sub is inverted so I would notice right away.

My sub is inverted so I would notice right away. its not even that. the parameters of the sub will DRASTICALLY change. either get a new sub, a new amp, or stick with what you have now. CHEVY4X4BLAZER
I get you. I just can't cut the parameters in Half.
Trigg
sounds like you need to get an amp that is stable at 1ohm Quote there is some VERY hard headed people out there. Anyone who says a DD-1 isnt necessary is also saying an O-scope isnt necessary. Anyone who says an O-scope IN THE MINIMUM isnt necessary, is a noob. Forget the DD-1 for a minute, any reputable installer will at LEAST use an O-scope. Those guys in that thread are clowns. Hard headed clowns. Guest
I get you. I just can't cut the parameters in Half. nope. when you only use one coil, you basically have a completely different woofer.

A 1ohm stable amp is being researched.
