Okay, so me and my buddy have been working on his trunk for a couple weeks now. We've built a sealed box for 2 15 inch Lanzar maxp154d's hooked up to an AP 1800.1d wired down to 1ohm. So my buddy goes and buys 0/1 gauge wire because he was told that the AP1800d had 0gauge inputs, but no.. they dont. So we run the 0 gauge into the trunk, of course attaching the 120amp fuse that came with the AP amp. in the trunk we were given a lightning audio 200amp fuse. So we have the 0gauge going into one side of the fuse, the other side is 4 gauge going from the fuse into the amp and using 4 gauge as a ground too of course.. Today we were going to demo the subs and mess with the gains and such. So i was playing some songs turned up the gain a bit on the amp and walked back to the back of the car and it was filled with smoke. Turned down EVERYTHING, and noticed the amp went into protected mode. After we tried hearing what the subs sounded like and they were just flapping back and forth sounding like a piece of plastic was hitting a surface really fast. So we turn the car off and back on. The amp isn't coming on at all. I figured we blew the subs cuz too much power. but what else happened? no matter where I go, no matter what I do, no matter the choices I make... My guess is the gain/bass boost was turned up and the subwoofers couldn't handle the clipped power and when they blew they took the amp aswell. USAFBordeaux Posted December 11, 2011 Author Report Posted December 11, 2011 damn. well the amp was working after the subs blew. the bass on the headunit was all the way up and the headunit was about 75% loud. the gain wasn't up much at all though. the headunit is factory. the car is a 2004 ford taurus no matter where I go, no matter what I do, no matter the choices I make...
