Mtx 9500 wiring help

I have a mtx 9500 in a sledgehammer box. I got it from a guy in a local trade for my Xbox 360. I hooked an ohmmeter up to it and got a 4 ohm reading. I took the sub out and seen that there were no jumper wires from coil to coil. Would that mean its wired in series if there is no jumper or that it was only running one coil?

I then tried jumping the negative from one voice coil to the other and the positive of one voice coil to the other so they were ran in parallel. After doing that it was also reading 4 ohms.

What am I wiring wrong?
