System help?

My friend just got his new car and he wants a system that will sound good and be reliable but get fairly loud at the same time... This includes head unit, mids/highs, subs, amps, and any needed electrical upgrades. The budget is about $2000... I have an idea on what to have him get, but you guys probably know more than I do. He has a 2004 Grand Cherokee but doesn't to be weighed down to much or use up all of his cargo space.

Any suggestions?

start out with doing the big 3. get your electrical strong. Get yourself a volt meter(stinger) to monitor you electrical on the fly. if you are going to run a lot of subs then get a bigger alternator and more batteries. Check out your original battery to see if you need some extras. All depending on what your going to run for subs. Next get a head unit and wiring harness for it. Run your rcas to where the amps will be. Then you can get your mids and highs or subs first. (doesn't matter what order) so say you start with mids and highs. Your gunna wanna do research to figure out what you want. After, get the amps first, next speakers and hook them up. repeat for the subs and amp.

*** as for specific items NO ONE on here can tell you what to get. we can ONLY suggest. its your(your friends) vehicle and money. Get what you want. Like most ppl say for example the sub is 20% the enclousre is 80% and i believe the same is with speakers. Just start somewhere and you will learn the tricks and tips. We all have to start somewhere. some good brands that you will hear are Audioque, DC audio, Sundown, Mechman Dc Power, Xs Power, Kicker, Pioneer, Alpine, etc. The rest is up to you.
