Do you want one set of speakers that handle 400w RMS? If so, those will be hard to come by. How much power does your amplifier put out per channel? If all 4 channels added together equals 400w @ 4 ohms, I'd say look into the Focal PC 690 or the RE FR series 6x9s. Hertz speakers also seem like they will be a good choice if you want them. There are many options for you to explore.

Alright, thanks. I think I may run them at 2 ohms for the first few weeks or so, and then switch to 0.5 and figure out what my limits are... If my equipment can't handle it I can always figure out something else.

Hmm, I purchased the subs from Sonic Electronix and they don't seem to carry the dual 4... I'm not sure what to do. At 2 ohms it really seems like the subs would be very underpowered.

I have a 270 amp alternator (about 215 amps at idle), 4 XS Power D3100s and a Big Three upgrade using 2/0 wire.

Well each sub is only going to be seeing 7cf if that makes a difference... They are separated, so its technically two 7cf enclosures. I apologize, I should have made that clear earlier.

The enclosure is going to be 14cf after displacement tuned to 35hz with 17in^2 of port area per cf.

Okay, I have two of the new RE XXX 18s and a Sundown SAZ-4500D. I have the electrical to run the amp at 0.5 ohms and would like to do so provided the subs can handle it... Would I be better off running them at 2 ohms? What do you guys think?

I'm just going off of manufacturer recommendations from the booklet I got with them... It says 9cf per woofer after displacement would be an optimal enclosure. Do NOT go off those specs. They are terrible. I'd say put both in 14^3 with 16^2-18^2 port per cube and tune to 36-38Hz. You will be most happy with it. Thanks. Do you know of anyone who can design a box like that for me? I've never designed a ported enclosure and I have a mac so there's not really any software I can use to help me.

I don't have much of a choice... I'd like to keep the rear seats and there is no way I'm going to fit 18 cu. ft. of box volume + port area back there. How much better would it be ported? If it's that big of a difference I'd be willing to remove my rear seats.

Okay, I have 2 of the new RE XXX 18s and I am going to make a sealed enclosure for them to manufacturer's specs and drop it in the back of my 04 Focus hatch. My entire vehicle has been covered in dynamat already and I have two sets of the RE XXX components running @ 2 ohms on a Sundown SAX-100.4. I will be powering the subwoofers with a Sundown SAZ-4500D... What do you guys think I will be hitting on the TermLab? I'm just curious because I heard these subs can get pretty loud. Also, do you guys think the pair of subs can handle the 4500 at 0.5 ohm daily? I have the electrical to support it and I'd really like to run the pair of subs at that impedance because it doesn't seem like they would be getting enough power at 2 ohms... I don't want to end up blowing them right off the bat though. Any suggestions are welcome.
