omg_spoon Posted January 19, 2012 Author Report Share Posted January 19, 2012 So heres my car, 98 mustang gt.1Alot of these pics are older ones I found lying around.This is my first major audio project, Im having fun with it so far.Random pic of my deck its a pioneer 4000ub, I got after I fried the stock amps in the car.My old set up just 2 C10s that I ran off a lightning audio 250.1. I think the box was 2 1.5ft^3 sections tuned to around 32hz. Ran those for about 3 years, more than happy with them since I got them 2 for 1 on sale.Heres shot of my foamed trunk lid and my fancy german trunk holder.Random shot of my old wiring that my friend did for me.Rear seats out with a few of stock speakers and some infinity 3.5s from my old car that were lying around.Spare tire cover out of extra mdf, going to use the spare tire hook thing to hold it down.New box something like 2.2 ft^3 32hz, probably gonna use the tire cover to help mount in the trunk. Going to have it fire at the cabin I think.Can't really see it, but theres pin nails all over the box.I traded in my old german trunk holder for a new compact japanese one.Heres whats going in the box.Fi Q 12" 1ohm DVCJust some of the other stuff, my stinger voltmeter, 10 gauge speaker wire, RF 1/0 amp kit and rcas. He gets all the credit for the tire cover though. omg_spoon Posted January 22, 2012 Author Report Share Posted January 22, 2012 Got some work done today. Fixing the leak my trunk had turned out to be harder than I had expected. The previous owner had said the car was rear ended so Im assuming this stems from that. Dad has some naval jelly so we poured that on there. While that was drying I put the woofer in the box. Put some coats on it before work on thursday and friday. Yeah its a crooked, I was too lazy to recut the wires plus it gives it character. Masking Second coat I think. Finished, I put some rtv silicone on the seam and around the holes for the hinges. Pulling the deck to get the old remote and rca out. Bezel out too. Made my voltmeter plate that goes where the stock cd player went. Dad helped alot on the actual hole for the meter. I also pulled the old power wire along with the remote and rca. After a week of running it, I happy with it sounds good and is pretty loud. omg_spoon Posted February 17, 2012 Author Report Share Posted February 17, 2012 Even though I've seen a lot of videos on how easy they are to use, I was still surprised. Head unit doesnt distort at all which I found surprising. My gain was a little under and of course my crossover was waaaaaay off.
