That may be bad that your lights don't dim.

Your alt should sit at 13.8-14.7v and your batteries usually sit at 12.8v

the "dimming" happens when your voltage does a quick plummet from 14v to 12.8v and back up to 14v

with a 55a alt and a 1500w amp you SHOULD be seeing dimming.

If you are not, that means your voltage is probably going from 13.3 to 12.8 and your electrical system is suffocationg itself causing the amp to strain harder, eventually cause more strain on the woofer and finally risk a bad battery, amp, woofer, or all three.

They are dimming a bit but nothing crazy. I will be getting another batt asap though. Finding a HO alt for my car is tough.

Here's a video. That rattling noise is not the sub clipping lol. It's my roof flexing and air escaping from under the trim ring making a fart noise.

Can't argue with you there. I wouldn't stress my electrical system any more without another alt and batt. At least a 110amp alt. They make a conversion kit to take a GM alt. Think I'm going to go with that. I'm actually going to put off installing the P400-4 I'm winning on Ebay for a while until I get my electrical up to spec.

My car has an alt off a 3000GT and an alt from a 2002 ford explorer and I paid a total of $65 for both.

Its never easy but you gotta make it work before you get in over your head and burn shit up.

Got a few more build pics for you guys. And LOTS more to come as I'm doing work today! I'm building some kick panels for my new speakers (Not here yet) today and possibly starting on an amp rack.

I got my box all braced up and built a small amp "rack" a while back but never posted up pics. I'm going to be more active now with this build and take you all along for the ride!

Future plans:

Right now I'm still running stock mids 'n' highs (4"s!!) so I ordered a set of Rockford Prime 6.5s coax's for the rear and Punch 6.5s coax's for the front (got a STEAL on these by the way $70 for both sets), of course building panels for near perfect placement. Also, I'm saving up for my new batts and alt. Going with a 110amp GM conversion kit and either 2 Kinetik 800s or similar in the back, and an optima yellow top or similar up front.

Also getting a p400-4 for the mids and highs.

I want to get another SSD and do a wall. I'm really loving 4th order bandpasses right now and the sick lows they drop. But I really don't know If I have the room for it (With the batt/amp rack). If I can figure out a decent design I will certainly go with that. Stay tuned for more pics!

Ok so I know I promised more pics but I've been busy. I'm working at an audio shop now so I should soon have the nessecary funds to make this build happen like I want. My plan now is to do 2 BL 18's each on their own 1500bd-cp. First though, I'm getting a mechman alt built and a few batts in there. So it's coming along but slowly. Anyways, in the meantime, I thought I would build myself some kick panels and begin work on the mids and highs. I've got rockford prime coaxials in there now but soon I will be getting Punch 6.5 components on a p400-4 (again....need the alternator.) But anyways here's some pics of the kick panels I've made, I will be glassing them on Tuesday at work most likely.

Got the panels all glassed up today. One more good coat of resin inside and out should do it. Then it's bondo, loads of sanding, primer, paint, clear coat. Shit load of work haha. By the way this is my first time doing any fiberglass work.

Got a vid of some flex happening in the Sidekick. Box is painted up temporarily before I carpet it or build a new one... Also, the kick panels are coming along great! Just a bit more sanding to go and they will be rocking!!
