lotus
I have a Cobalt lt coupe 2010. the alt is 105amps. im going to be running an AQ2200d with 2 AB XFL 12s. i already have 0awg from the stock battery in the trunk to the amp and ground. im planing on buying a 2nd battery either an XS power D1400 - D3100 . whichever helps out more since i cant upgrade my alt. and wiring 0awg from my alt to stock batt then to my 2nd batt. i want to keep my current alt but do the big 3. would my alt be able to handle 0 awg? and should i take out the OEM wiring? i currently have an AB 100.1 vfl (1500rms) and everything seems to work fine on full tilt but i just wanna be sure everything will be functional. i also have halos with 8000k hids if that counts towards strain on my alt Edited January 23, 2012 by lotus Quote 2010 Cobalt LT Coupe Subs: 2 American bass XFL 12s Amp: Crescendo BC3500D Big 3 in 1/0awg 29hz box stinger volt meter 2nd battery Deka 9a31 pioneer DEH-9400BH
Exerstine
hids don't strain on your battery. they produce more light on less power. and your stock alternator should be alright to put 0ga on. just make sure its not gonna touch something else to cause a short.. carshateme
You know you'll need an upgraded alternator when your whole car lights are dimming....or...something bad happens. lol. POPLERO
I have a similar problem. A relative purchased a new 2012 camaro rs and the battery is in the trunk. For a basic big 3 upgrade you need to run a wire from the alt in the engine bay to the battery in the trunk?!? When you do the big 3 are you going to run the new wire with the stock (+) wire? Nikitaaa
You don't take the current wiring out when doing the big three. It just adds with the current flow. 0/1 gauge will not strain your factory alternator at all. Think of it this way, if you have a bucket of water and a small hose, the amount of water coming though the small hose is limited. But, upgrade your hose, and the water runs much more freely. X2 Quote The spot with least resistance LOL. I would ground to a rubber dildo if it had less resistance than a run of 4/0 wiring. how many poeple work there 3 or 4 lol At crescendo HQ? probably 2-3 At the sweatshop in china? 30,000 children No Engine
