Alternators and vehicle idle speed

im getting ready to buy a HO alt and ive seen in multible threads that vehicle idle speed has alot to do with which alt you will be able to use without problems???

starting fresh, chrysler 300.. no subs amp nothin

It definitely does. I had an issue with Idle speed in my application, to a point where the alternator doesn't even charge when I idle in drive. Granted, I stuck a 220 amp alternator on a tiny 90HP 1.6l engine that idles below 700 RPMs. It was pretty much my fault because I didn't realize this would happen until AFTER i bought and chopped my alt bracket and got the thing installed. Just do your research. Find out what your engine idles at in drive, and figure out what RPM speed the alt you're gonna buy starts charging at. Chances are you'll be fine, but you can never be too sure.
