can someone explain what exactly an MLA does?

So Ive seen them talked about and install threads, but what exactly doesn an MLA box do? After my mechman/D2700 install Ive noticed my voltage fluctuates a shit ton and im sure its the whole PCM controlled alt thing and understands that makes me a great candidate for an MLA, I just dont understand them...

It raises the charging voltage on pcm controlled charging systems. In other words, it takes you from 13 volts to 14 - 15 volts.

It basically is a chip for your computer. It "tricks" your pcm, I believe.

I have had very good luck with mine. But that doesn't mean they will fight voltage drop. That is still for the alt and batts. It just raises your charging voltage.

Awesome thats what i figured.

Its not so much that im getting voltage "drops" per say like playing at ful tilt, I just notice that when im cruising around you can tell when the PCM thinks it doesnt need to charge as uch and the battery takes the hit then after a few seconds the pcm "turns on" the alternator again.
