If you read the jl 1000/1 manual it specifically says the amp will produce less power at lower impedance levels than what is recommened. I second the 2.66 ohm load. its a no brainer anyways given the 1000/1 rips system.

Its on page 10....reduces power in safe mode with loads under 1.5 ohms

UPDATE: good news, the problem was in the wiring, i guess too much stress on the amp with the .67 ohm load, so i wired it in series/parallel like the diagram above to 2.66 ohms and all is good now. Given that each sub is only seeing a little more than 150 watts it sounds pretty good. he needs another amp for sure and he should be in business. thanks for all the help guys, much appreciated! :drinks:

Hmmmm. well I guess some 1000/1 will work at that impedance and others wont. Think i will play it safe in my install. there is no apparent gain from going below 1.5 ohms if ray is only clamping 940 at .67 Glad you figured it out. :good:

Out of the 3 cars i have here, it only works in my truck.

Voltage protects in the other ones.

Really needs a good batt bank to wire low.
