greggtr Posted February 17, 2012 Report Posted February 17, 2012 Hi guys, New to the forum so be nice OK here is the issue... I'm building a new project car (specs see below) and need advice on the sub box size to get max SPL... Car: 2004 Smart Fortwo Deadening: Dynamat Xtreme (everywhere) Head Unit: Pioneer Avic Doors Spk: 1 pair of Rockford T2652-s Splits per door (Tweeters in the dash)(fully sealed enclosure) Dash Spk: 2 pairs of Rockford T252-s (fully sealed enclosure) 4Ch Amp: Rockford T600-4 (85+WRMS to each speaker) Sub: 1 Rockford T2D215 15" sub Mono Amp: Rockford T1500 amp (1800WRMS) Battery: 1 x 1000cca lead battery Cap: Rockford 10Farad Wires: 0G to the cap and 4G to the amps The problem is I dont want to build a wall and I dont want more than 1 sub. The aim is a box around 3.5-4 cubic foot with two 4" flared ports. Firstly is the box too big? Secondly are the ports too small? And most importantly should it ge into the 150's dB? thanks Greg
Watch the bass Posted February 17, 2012 Report Posted February 17, 2012 To the improtant o dB´zzz only if you build a good burpbox. 2. Throw the cap out of your plan, caps are only usefull if you have a strong electrical system what you wan t to make stronger. A second batt is recommanded, and a AGM not lead acid. And threw the Danymat have a look in the second skin section, there is a thread about useing dampingmaterials economical and effective. Last are you from the US or other country, maby we can give you some exactly tips on better/usefuller stuff. "in the abundance of water, the fool is thirsty" Bob Marley
greggtr Posted February 18, 2012 Author Report Posted February 18, 2012 Thanks for the reply... I dont want a "burpbox" I want a sub system that can go VERY loud while still sounding good (hence all the mids and tweeters) This car will be used as a daily not just for SPL comps... The project is 3/4 complete; dynamating, doors and dash are complete, the only things left are the battey (most likly 1 x ODYSSEY PC1750) and the sub box. I was advised that the recommended ported box size of 2.75' is too small for Max SPL, I can spare 3.5-4', The question is; should I use the max space available or stick to the 2.75'? And the recommend port diameter is 6" can it be 2 x 4" and what are the downfalls of that? thanks Greg
