toggle switch for amp

i was wondering what do i need to have a on/off switch for my amp. people have told me to run it from the ignition or hu. would i just splice the remote wire from the hu running to the amp. which would be easiest? oh yeah i have a xscorpion voltmeter that doesnt have a remote wire and it wont turn off i want to hook it up to the battery to watch voltage. i would splice the power wire from the igition to it. or get a remote wire for it?

For the amp question, yes have a toggle switch for the remote wire, easiest.

For the meter that won't turn off, have a toggle switch for it as well. Unless you have to calibrate it every time it reads power.

what size power,ground and remote wire do i need to run the toggle switch. and is there a a wire that is actually like a remote wire or and i just use a power wire for the switch.

its power wire, like 20 awg would be plenty im sure.

take your remote from your head unit to a switch and then from the switch to a relay (so you can power all you want), and then to your amps, voltmeter, etc.

dont have a remote wire. i just got to splice power wire to remote wire on amp them just ground the other wire right? could i use old speaker wire from my old 5.25 speakers for wire for the toggle switch?

^^ yes that will work, (just wire the switch inline with the positive) and you can fuse tap if you want a "remote wire" that will turn off with the car. go for the 12 volt acc outlet or similar.
