95Burbancalldsnow
Alright, new to the forum here, figured this was a good a place as any to introduce myself, my names Greg lived in Oregon most my life till moving to Minnesota last year. Been watchin steve's videos on youtube for some time now and finally made my way over to the forum here. My ride is a 95 Chevy k1500 suburban totally stock....for now, within the week im going to be doing the big 3, my HU is a Kenwood excelon kdc-x689 i dont know why but im damn attached to this headunit weve been through several audio systems together lol. im going to be running prefabbed boxes for now from sonicelectronix, 4 Pioneer TS-W309D4's in series at 2 ohms on a JBL GTO 1400.1 amp. I also have an Optima yellow top, group 31 battery (the one for motorhomes) from a previous build im going to be useing im waiting on an old friend to ship it to me. Also have a compustar remote start/alarm on the Burban for now. Plans for this summer include fiberglass custom box for the 4 12's, custom fiberglassed door panels, 12 6.5 components in the doors and tweets in the pillars, plus the all important alternator and amps for the mids and high's. Heres to hoping all this damn snow hurrys up and goes the hell away so i can get to work on this thing!! 95Burbancalldsnow
alright guys I got a coupl of updates for you I put in some new front door speakers sence the old stock ones were definatly trashed, I redid my amp wireing from 4 to 0 gauge, power run under carpet, ground is above carpet....what can I say I like the way the blue wire looks lol put on 0 to 4 gauge reducers so it would work with my amp. My boxes are now stacked ontop of eachother, subs and ports facing back, hopefully have a new single box design soon with subs up and port back. in the next month or two im going to be getting my HO alternator either a dc spx 300A or possibly a mechman unsure though I have read alot of good things about both. so...heres some new pix. yeah...i roll with febreeze in my suv.....yall just hatin cause u aint linen fresh ahaha all siliconed up just to be extra carefull no water makes its way in.I should also noteI trimmed that grommet if u want to call it that off flush with the nut so its like poking up out of my carpet all crazy. all the 0gauge up under the hood where it comes up from the bottom into the cab.upgraded from the 4 to zero like I mentioned above. Finished for now though when I am building the box I plan on building a amp rack to get the amp up off the carpet and allow some better air flow plus hide that extra rca and remote wire under the "platform" the amp will sit on. still waiting on my friend to mail me my optima yellow top hopefully he gets his A$$ in gear and gets it to me soon. 95Burbancalldsnow
got the dd-1 reset amp and headunit, kenwood excelons are not clipless its a myth max volume is 28 out of 32 still not bad, amp gain goes up about 1/8th turn higher then I had it pretty goob for tuning it by ear, but you can absolutely tell a difference in that 1/8th of a turn considerablly louder and cleaner....i guess the cleaner could all be in my head though lol
