Hello,

I am new to the forms here and still new to car audio (all tho i think i have learned alot for the little time i have been in to it.)

Well here is where im at and what im using as of now.

JL 10w1V2 8ohm

Sealed box built by JL audio

Kenwood 200-1 deck

Kenwood 600 Watt bridgable amp to power the subs.

I want to build a box my self for the subs but i kina dont know where to start.

I know i want the box to be ported for a different sound then sealed and i know to use MDF bord but the over all hight with and port tuning is what i dont know at all. i have looked online and have found out some info but still kinda drawing a blank on how to actually do it correctly with out hurting my woofers.

Any help would be great

I talked to a JL rep dealer today and he pretty much said take http://www.jlaudio.com/10w1v2-8-car-audio-w1v2-subwoofer-drivers-92073 that diesine and double the langth but make sure i use 2 ports instead of 1 and make sure that i put a divider in the box to make each sub in there own sepret contaiment area. i hope you understand what i mean. ([]oIo[]) pretty much that the ( and the ) are the out side walls the I is the diver of the subs and the [] are the ports. Please any help would be so nice ^_^

Sealed boxes are very easy to build as you just use the recommended enclosure volume and build away they present tight punchy bass that has better sq on average over a ported box ...ported boxes have to be built very specifically or they'll sound like shit they will yield higher spl than a sealed but won't be quite as accurate in the sq department.. Look up the Torres box calculator if you decide to try ported... But seeing as your sub is an 8 ohm shallow mount I would do more of a sq setup with it in a sealed

Thanks. so pretty much keep what I have the woofers set up as and just work on the mids and highs. To get a nice blend of music with out soundimg like crap. Cool now I need to figure out what I will need for that lol
