andrew018018 Posted April 19, 2012 Report Posted April 19, 2012 Straight to the point: my bass drowns out my speakers, so i want louder ones. Also i wand to bring the imaging further forward. I went to a new car audio shop today with the intention of buying either 1 pair of 6.5" components (2 ohm, 90+rms) OR 2 pair of 6.5" components (4 ohm, 50+rms) so that i would have a final load of 2 ohms on each of my front channels and get about 100rms each side, the speakers would be in door pods on the door cards (kept independent from the inside of the door) Anyway, i explained my situation and he suggested that i go with one set of Vibe SEK50's (90rms 3ohms) since they would be in a small airspace so i wouldn't gain from putting 6.5"s, and i should set the HPF higher since my rear door speakers are 8" to bring the imaging forward. (to cut out their midbass) What should i do? What would you do? Don't get me wrong, this guy knows his stuff.. but he doesn't have me convinced :S thanks My System (in VW golf/Rabbit mk2) (1) Hifonics Brutus 2010D @ 1ohm (1) Hifonics Zeus 440 Mids'nhighs (3) JBL W10Gti subs (2) JBL GTO838 (2) JBL GTO936 (1) run of 3/0 Gauge ofc (1) Ac Delco120ah 850cca battery (front) (1) Ac Delco 45ah 330cca battery (rear) (1)Sony Gt630ui hu 34hz tuning
skittlesRgood Posted April 19, 2012 Report Posted April 19, 2012 what speakers were you looking at? that will make a big difference. you cant just keep throwing more cheapy speakers in and hope they will sound good. doing a 180* phase flip on one set of speakers might help bring up your staging. try it one pair at a time. returning it to normal before changing the next set. If I answered you in a well mannered, informative way, you asked a good question or had a good attitude. If I was an asshole, you asked a stupid question or you had a fucktard attitude... or I was in a bad mood. Well I didn't really have anything particular in mind, but i'm looking for quality speakers.. the problem is that i'm from a small island and most of the good stuff is way overpriced and shipping from other places is expensive, this is why i gave him a try :/ what i really wanted where two sets of JBL power series, or infinity perfects.. i've done installs with them and they sound great, but i not wiling to pay 200euro ($260) a pair, i'm only a college student! I'll try shifting the phase, thanks for the help My System (in VW golf/Rabbit mk2) (1) Hifonics Brutus 2010D @ 1ohm (1) Hifonics Zeus 440 Mids'nhighs (3) JBL W10Gti subs (2) JBL GTO838 (2) JBL GTO936 (1) run of 3/0 Gauge ofc (1) Ac Delco120ah 850cca battery (front) (1) Ac Delco 45ah 330cca battery (rear) (1)Sony Gt630ui hu 34hz tuning
skittlesRgood Posted April 19, 2012 Report Posted April 19, 2012 well if you want to mess with your install, put the speakers you have up on the dash or "A" pillar. that will definitely raise things up and even sound louder now that the speakers can be pointed at your face. andrew018018 Posted April 19, 2012 Author Report Posted April 19, 2012 The thing is the front speakers are 6by9's which i borrowed from a friend, and are in temporary boxes in the kicks, and they wont fit on the dash or A pillars, the only option really is the doors... i think i'm leaning to the two sets of 6.5"s but i have to find a good pairs with a good price, which isn't easy My System (in VW golf/Rabbit mk2) (1) Hifonics Brutus 2010D @ 1ohm (1) Hifonics Zeus 440 Mids'nhighs (3) JBL W10Gti subs (2) JBL GTO838 (2) JBL GTO936 (1) run of 3/0 Gauge ofc (1) Ac Delco120ah 850cca battery (front) (1) Ac Delco 45ah 330cca battery (rear) (1)Sony Gt630ui hu 34hz tuning
