Blew Amp, What Is Exactly Wrong?

Recommended Posts

I blew the amp for my home theater 10'' sub. Its a synergy klipsch 10''. I used to always be able to jam 100% volume with the gain up all the way for hours upon end, with absolutely no problems, hooked up another sub to the little amp (bad idea) and thats when it blew. Now I can only play a tiny bit of music but the fuse will just blow whenever I turn the gain or volume up past its liking. I don't see any burns or anything burnt specifically, so I was wondering if anyone has a quick fix, speaking that I probably voided the warranty and can't just send it back. Thanks.

It sounds to me like you have destroyed the output stage transistors from driving a too low a load too hard, or destroyed another part of the circuitry such as the protection circuit or power stage. Unless you are an electrical technician, I am afraid that this amplifier will have to be taken in for repair.

In short, sounds like it's royal fucked. Repair shop time matey.

Cheers,

Mick
