gsr40freak Posted April 28, 2012 Report Posted April 28, 2012 Hi guys, My first post here, been lurking for awhile and have found alot of useful information and finally decided to sign up. Im having a bit of a problem with my tuning on my box. I designed my box so i can still reach the spare tire well of my car. Its 2010 altima coupe, and the sub is going to be firing toward the trunk lid. Its a AQ hdc3 10 being powered by a RF1000.1bd. The box is 11.5'' high, 30'' wide, and top depth is 8.5'' and bottom depth is 14''. The box has a slanted back to push right up against the back seat. Im having trouble using torres' box tuning calculator, the internal volume after bracing and sub displacement is 1.4 which is enough for the single 10, however im having trouble calculating out the size of a round port for the box to meet the proper sq'' per foot of port. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
gsr40freak Posted April 28, 2012 Author Report Posted April 28, 2012 I was messing around with the box calculator again and punched in a single 4 inch round port with a lenght of 20''. The tuning came to 34hz with 1.25 cuft left for airspace. The port area ends up being 12.56 sq inches. Would i get port noise with 1 port? and it bending the port 90 degrees ok to fit it? and is 1.25 cu ft enough for a single aq 10? Thanks again guys. Any feedback is appreciated.
RAM_Designs Posted April 28, 2012 Report Posted April 28, 2012 You have to take into consideration the woofer displacement as well. If you're starting off with 1.4ft^3 before sub and port displacement, then you're going to be on the small side when it's all said and done. Also, last time I checked the aeroport calc was off on the Torres Box Calc, but I don't know if it had changed since then. Before it was calculating the port length based on the net volume and not the gross volume...but like I said, he may have fixed that issue by now, since it was a while ago when I PMed him about it. gsr40freak Posted April 29, 2012 Author Report Posted April 29, 2012 It was 1.4 after displacement of subs and one minor brace and then i would be at 1.25 cu ft after port. Is that to small? Also I double checked with the precision port calculator and it came out to just shy of 18 inches for length for 34 hz. And toress calculator says 20. Im not sure which one to go with.... If i went with torres it will be 34hz... and precision port calculator straight length would be 32hz at 20'' long. Advice?
