98' Ford Escort Zx2 - Beginning of a Rebuild

Recommended Posts

That looks really good Steve, I'm a fan of Audiopipes products and prices.

Trunk space is overrated. Get back to work!

I would if I hadn't gone broke yesterday :glare: I get a decent paycheck tomorrow, at least enough to finish this damn box and hopefully paint it with a white base coat. I still need terminal cups though. I'm thinking about lining the port with long fur so it looks like the box is breathing, any thoughts??? it will be oriented as shown though so it won't be seen unless the trunk is popped

I already have a blue terminal plate, it's pretty sick. I think I might get some terminal posts from parts express and make it look a little more flashy?

Dude...yes do the fur. I've thought about it too. It would look pimp as shit haha. And as far as terminal plates go, I would personally steer clear because they seem like a great opportunity for air leaks, and I think they'll bottleneck your electrical current flow. What I would do (and it's cheaper) is go to the local hardware store and get you some nuts, bolts, and washers. I did it with my box I built back in January. Maybe I should upload my pictures of that build...kinda lost interest haha.

that looks really nice Dylan, what size bolts did you use? and does it look the same way on the inside of the box?

With such a low power, I think that I would be able to use a terminal cup though, don't you think so?

Okay, today I was finally able to shell out whatever money I have left for now to buy some screws. I got the box assembled :rofl2:

*******NOTICE THAT I DIDN'T SEAL OFF THE EDGES OR USE LIQUID NAILS ON ALL THE EDGES. I'M WAITING TO PAINT THE PORT BEFORE EVERYTHING GETS ASSEMBLED OFFICIALLY*******

I am satisfied with the box, but I would have liked to have better tools to get better angles and straighter lines  So here it is at the moment

It's a port, brah!!!

Looks good man. It's small enough you'll be able to play with box positioning to see what sounds best. I have plenty of 12ga. left over that we can slide it wherever we need to. :good:

Now get it painted!

Sounds good man, you'll have to check it out when you get down here to return the amp. The steps are:

1. paint the port

2. secure every edge and corner of the box with silicon and liquid nails

3. get a terminal cup mounted

4. get power cable from Enormis

5. drop an SA-12D4 in there temporarily

6. fire up dat bish

7. get painted in free time

8. load Skar VVX-12D4 whenever I order it

Alright, here is the current progress, sorry about how long this takes to do, I'm a noob haha

I'm going with a white port, black exterior. I like the contrast that it has, plus the dustcap will be black and white so why not?

Not too proud of this, it's for the terminal cup. At the time I didn't have a jigsaw so I figured that I could just drill a bunch of holes and it would fit... don't try it

It's all sealed up!!! All it needs is an exterior paint for appearances, a sub and it's fully functional
