Joshex Posted May 1, 2012 Report Share Posted May 1, 2012 This is a custom made 2/1 box I designed and built with some help of my friends. 10" Top section: 1.45ft3 - 1.5x4" slot port tuned to 45 hertz. 12" Bottom section: 5.15ft3 (2) 4" ports tuned to 35 hertz. When I bought this car for $1000 dollars after my last car broke down, it was a bone dry system, not even stock. It had no headunit, no front components, rear stock components, and remnants of old sub wiring in the trunk. I wasn't really interested in car audio at the time, but still wanted to listen to music. I ran out and bought myself a cheap Dual headunit. I was content but knew I wanted subs eventually. A while past and my friend hooked me up with 2 10" Duals in a decent sized box. I then got the 2-channel 400-watt Dual XP1700. I ran this system without front components for a while and realized it was time for an upgrade since it was close to my birthday. I got my current components that I'm using now (Kicker DS65 and Sound Ordinance P-69). I started to get more into car audio after that and wanted to try and install a small system to my girl friends parents car. I knew upgrading the HU wasn't an option so I just tapped into the rear speaker outputs. I bought an 8" Pyle for REALLY cheap ($18ish) and put it into my small MTX ported truck box. I then bought a Boss Riot R1002 with Pyramid CR65 LP Crossover. I ran everything in the car to find out the sub was terrible. I had some extra money so I ran to Walmart and bought a 12" Dual sub and a Scocshe sealed enclosure. This sounded way better in there but I was having problems with wiring and didn't want to spend anymore time then I already had because it wasn't even my car. I then took everything out of her parents car and transferred the "12 to my car along with the amp. So now I had 2 10" and a 12". I knew I wanted to upgrade so I started looking on craigslist for used Kicker products. I found a pretty good deal on my current 12" Kicker Solo-Baric L7s with sealed enclosure and a Kicker ZX300.1 amp along with it all for $275. After listening to it I bought it and installed it into my car. I ended up selling off all my extra subs and amp for money so it made my purchase even out to about $140 in all. I then ordered another Kicker ZX300.1 amp. My system sounded good, but I was lacking a ported box. So I designed some builds for my L7s to go in. But there was something else I was wanting, a 10". I ordered a 10" Kicker Comp online and started my box builds. First I wanted to make each box square and be separate. This wasn't going to work after I built a 10" enclosure and realized it would not work with my plans. My car is in poor interior condition so I have to make that my priority.
