you dont need a major upgrade... do the big 3 and that will be good unless your running .25 ohm and have a geo metro with a tiny ass battery youll be fine

Well my alt runs at 60A at 2k rpms which blows. I'm going to do the big 3 then get 2 deka batteries. One for the front and one for the rear, then volt meter so I know when to crank and when not to crank.
That's what I was referring to when I said electrical. Thank you for the heads up though, I always like input.

Double-din mount will be here next week, fake patty's day this weekend, and I don't have my car with me to diagnose the problem it having right now. Good thing I have something to look forward to Friday! Must fix subs and road trip!

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I may just have them spray it and sand/clear coat it myself. I know several people that will be willing to help me out with prep and clear. Just not up to par on the spraying aspect.

I am looking to paint my car since as of right now it is primed and needs to be painted within the next couple of months. My question is: Is it more cost effective to go to Maaco after prep-work has been finished or have a buddy of mine do it and I have to buy the paint? Also if you have used Maaco, how was the paint job and was it worth the money?

Yes, I planned on doing the big 3. I am just concepting everything right now. I plan on putting big bucks and mucchhh time into this car. Right now I am going back to school and finishing a tune-up on my car along with all revamp of my interior/exterior of my car while there. -

Ok guys, I am planning to do a huge build after I'm finished with school. Here are my specs: Kenwood headunit of some sort. Rockford 6.5" P1652-2 component (front) Rockford 6.5" P165 component (rear) Rockford R300-4 amp for components Ascendant Audio SMD series 15" DVC 2 ohm Crescendo Audio BC3500D for sub My electrical will consist of (2) Optima yellow tops, of course 1/0 awg wiring and several grounds. I am in need of a 200+ amp alternator, correct? I've been trying to find one for my 93 civic coupe and can't seem to find one. I am new to alternator upgrades and would like some suggestion on what will work and what won't. Any suggestions would be great on anything.

I have checked my ohm load multiple times and rewired it multiple times. I think at this point it is the amp. Because when I was running at 4 ohms it would throw itself into protection. The amp is not working at all currently but it turns on and I just triple checked my wiring. Nothing comes from the subs, also my RCAs are linked between my amps and my music plays from the speakers. Like I said, it is a refurbished power acoustik. Not a great brand to begin with. So I think it is the amp, not me at this point. I have worked over 12 hours on this triple checking everything and now the amp is not playing anything. I will call power acoustik tomorrow and see what they have to say. Might get a refund and a better amp from the refund. Again, thank you everyone for the time and help.

Sweet, thanks guys for all the info and help. Just check my current resting volts and it was 14.5v steady idling without lights and I turned the lights on while resting it it jumped to about 14.8-9v resting. I imagine it would be a bit more with some rpms going, no?

I may have to look into this. It says from 94-2006 and mine is a 93 so I'm not exactly sure if mine has this. I will research more into it when I have the time.

Yeah, the amp was not worth the money. I wasn't informed when I bought it. But I found out the fuse calculation and got made that the company is ridiculously lying. But I believe my volts driving is about 14 or so. But I will have to look into that trick for the civic. I would love to buy a better alt/battery, but expenses are low like I said. One thing I'm going to try again with the extra battery is lowering the ohms to 4 load again and seeing if that is going to mask the problem. Thanks again for the advice.

Well, gain is not high at all. Never above half gain. I was watching it go into protection as the volume was up. But another note is that is a refurbed amp. I would really like to get another amp, but I'm flat broke due to school and rebuilding my civic. But could it just be a huge strain on my alternator? I've heard these civic alternators are tiny, like less than 90 amps?
