Hz?

im kinda of a newbie but then again im not.. im new to building custom boxes.. im in middle of my first fiberglass project.i need to post a thread in builds for that. but could someone explain how do you come up with the Hz when you are talking about your boxes. and whats good for what kind of setup

the "hz" or tuning frequency refers to the frequency which below it, the enclosure no longer exhibits cone control and the subwoofer starts to move more freely, usually causing overexcursion if no subsonic filter is used. it is determined by the length and diameter of the port in relation to its volume.

someone looking for sq would tune lower, ie 30Hz or lower

someone looking for sql would tune ~35hz

someone looking for apl would tune 40hz and higher

but its all about personal taste, do you want a low end monster, a fart box, flat response

whats ur dimensions cause someone can help

one of the boxs i am building now is 2.42 cu.. he want to keep his 3rd row in his tahoe and he is running 2 premeir 12s. 1400 watts each. so if i wanted it to be spl. just wang its ass off then whats a good size port and the hz it would be

are you saying you want to use the 2.42cuft for both 12's?

or ur going to make a new box geared towards spl

ts-w1207d4..... thats as big as i can build the box is 2.42cuft due to space required by the 3rd row. he has 5 kids. its 40x14x91/2.. he wants to get as much spl as he can

i have already built the box. the port is 3" x 13" in the middle similar to a prefab box. but im going to fiberglass it and put a tv on top of it..like i said its my first CUSTOM box.

u gave me the port width and port height, i need its length(inside the box)

it goes in 7 1/2 and cuts to each side like a prefab box. can you tell me the hz on that?. do you think i should have did it a different way? i have pics at home. i will post in the builds when i get there...
