Help deciding on an amp

Recommended Posts

Alright, so here's my current setup in my 97 Cadillac Eldorado ETC.

Kenwood DDX318 (HeadUnit)

Power Output:

Peak: 50 watts x 4 channels

RMS: 22 watts x 4 channels

Kenwood eXcelon KFC-X133 5-1/4" In Doors

RMS: 80 watts per pair / 40 watts each

Kenwood eXcelon KFC-X693 6"x9" In Rear Deck

RMS: 260 watts per pair / 130 watts each

Any way I can get 1 amp to put on all four speakers? Or should I leave the fronts running off the headunits power and only amplify the rear 6x9's?

Amp all 4 speakers on a 4 channel amp and since you're running all Kenwood look for a Kenwood Amp you should be straight with a 100x4 amp just go really easy on the gains for the front speakers.

This Kenwood amp will give your by 9's full power but you will have to be really gentle on the gains for the 5 1/4's http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_18457_Kenwood-eXcelon-XR-4S.html

I might just go ahead and upgrade the 5 1/2" to these:

Kenwood eXcelon KFC-X1730P

http://www.sonicelec...KFC-X1730P.html

the 5 1/2" i got now i already had to mock up sum pods for since my car came with this dreaded bose system and i dont like it so i'll be fiberglassing sum new ones, mine as well upgrade to a more suitable set.

Price of your guess is direct out of the worehouse. And it´s a class D amp, for mids and high´s class AB sounds better.

I guess you http://www.ebay.com/itm/Soundstream-REF4-400-400W-REFERENCE-SERIES-2-CHANNNEL-AMPLIFIER-/290713352980?pt=Car_Amplifiers&hash=item43afddbb14 very good SQ amp, or the bigger brother http://www.ebay.com/itm/REF4-760-SOUNDSTREAM-AMP-4-CH-760W-SPEAKER-AMPLIFIER-/130420710309?pt=Car_Amplifiers&hash=item1e5dae1ba5

That'll work great then. The amp will match up well with your whole system.

The reason I suggested the amp I did was because he is running all Kenwood gear and it would make more sense to keep matching gear than change it up now. The soundstream reference would be dope but I am a stickler for matching my gear and I do that as much as I can.
