Got 2 JBL GT 102D's with no Box....

Recommended Posts

So I would like to make a box for them. Every box I have ever had before has been a prefabbed box. So since these are old, and not going to be making a huge statement, I just want to make a box for fun to sharpen up my skills. I am sort of up in the air on what to make though. I am 95% sure I want a ported box, because making a sealed box would be too easy. I downloaded the manual for the subs, and they suggested some odd designs for them. one was even like what Steve had planned for the Lexus, where they face each other in opposition. So what do you guys think I should do?

So here's a suggestion for your JBL's:

Enclosure Specifications:

Fb = 35 Hz

Vb = 2.8 ft^3

External Height = 16 in

External Width = 30 in

External Depth = 18 in

Port Width = 3 1/4 in

Cut Sheet List:

* All Dimensions in Inches.

* Wood Thickness is 3/4 for all Parts.

External Enclosure Parts:

Top & Bottom = 30 x 18

Left & Right Sides =

Side 1 = 16 1/2 x 14 1/2

Side 2 = 17 1/4 x 14 1/2

Front = 26 x 14 1/2

Back = 30 x 14 1/2

L Port Internal Assembly Parts:

Front to Back = 13 1/4 x 14 1/2

Extension = 11 3/4 x 14 1/2

Just download torres application and play with it until you reach the tuning you want and dimensions your comfortable working with, and i think u should go with a ported box it will sound better im 99.99% it will

I will take a look and see what I can do. I honestly know nothing about tuning for a certain frequency, or what one to tune a box to.
