AudioControl and system levels

Hi,

I'm having difficulty tuning my system in my car, and I figured I might get some useful tips. I recently purchased the DD-1 and have been attempting to adjust all the levels in my system. My head unit is an Eclipse CD3200 with 5v preouts. I have an infinity Kappa four amp 125rms @4ohms, and Infinity Ref 1300a sub amp 200rms @4ohms, and an audiocontrol EQS.

After reading the directions carefully. I determined my HU clipped at 78 of 80 on the front and rear channels, but clipped out at 64 on the sub pre outs, so I decided to go with the lower number. I then set the test track to 1khz and set the volume to 64. I adjusted the EQS until the 2 and 5v lights illuminated. I then used the DD-1 to read off the speaker terminal until it showed distortion, which was barely off the minimum setting on the amp input level. The EQS has a max of 13 volt line driver, and my infinity's only accept 6v max.

Anyhoo, my system sounds very aenemic, thin.

Speakers are 5.25" Morels at 4ohm and the sub is a single reflex bandpass with an 8" driver custom made for Porsches.

I was wondering how many of you used audiocontrol in their systems, or would I be better off just taking it out? I'm at a loss here, and frankly it's just a bit frustrating.

I'm using a lc6 and have that going into a eqs made a huge difference in my car and I personally don't think I can go without it again... Also I'm using my factory hu because I have factory navi blutooth and built in hard drive... Sorry if it's not much help
