Mrop
Yeah, thanks for advice, i will have the 4SPL back on wednesday so i can test all ports with 145+ sweeps. Sofar i tought the 57l -port should work best and stested it out...Result: I am so happy and angry at the same time!!!So close! 1ohm: 97V 33,6A Z=2,89 W=3259 157,0 kickpanel 155,3 windshield @44Hz 0.25ohm: 68,9V 98,9A Z=0,69 W=6814 159,78 kickpanel 157,90 windshield @44Hz I did prot the amp couple of times...It's gettin hard to control the volume knob at 159+ with new port as the air movement is MASSIVE.I need to develop a way where i can raise the volume slower, as between 50% and 53% of volume the voltage drop is from 12V to 9V (Oh yes, DD M4a has 9V low voltage protection circuit, and yes the amp did survive.) What a beast of an amp... Maybe a 200A+ alternator could help me keep the voltages up, so i can get more output!Make sure you vote in this month's SOTM!!!May the best volvo win! Mrop
Port #1 (No port) 140dB+ sweep from kick Port #2 (the 159,15dB -port) peaks at 44Hz 12l in volume. Port #3 (the 159,78dB one) peaks at 44Hz (same as #2) but dB's went up due the higher airvolume of the port (57l) Tho the subs closest to the port gets over excited and almost hits max excursion at 159dB+ with smaller port the furthest subs from the port goes crazy. I think i need to find perfect port where excursion does not strech to the limits. Port #4 (the lowlows 38Hz) (peaks still at 44) Port #5 the higtuned (54Hz) peaks at 50Hz. Then some comparison: Port #2 vs #3 (159,15 vs 159,78)Both are around 44Hz tuned, peaks at 44 both. The port with the higher volume (57l #3) peaks more at 26Hz and at 44Hz, but does not play high notes as well as the #2 port ( 159,15dB) I have plenty more pics at: http://www.peranurkka.net (our facebook page). What i have noticed is that it does not matter where you tone your enclosure if you plan to play it door open or doors open. At the kickpanel the output is almost the same whatever you do with the ported section.I think i have some sort of "tuning frequency" at 26Hz ( Maybe sealed section??) as it peaks at 26 and 44 everytime.Or the 26Hz is somesort of a standing wave that builds up between the back of my wall and the windshield.I also did some dB Drag -measuring just to test how the box works when sealed up: Port #3 ( 159,78dB one, 44Hz 57l) peaks at 41Hz sealed up. Port #5 (54Hz) peaks at 44Hz. As you can see the low end drops off when i close the doors. Time to get hands dirty...I'm going to hook up some 2Volt cells i have had laying around...I want that 160 so bad, i am willing to burp the shit out from my system, then rebuild it in winter, so i can play the 160 with music on next summer www.peranurkka.net
db_speakerbox
Any updates? Been waiting for that 60!
Mrop
Thanks dB_speakerbox, i got updates, but they are not as happy as i would have liked em to be :/ I Finally got my 14volt system to work.Amp starts nicely at 15,7-15,8V. I made some fixing to the port, lenghten it out and filled the gaps. Then i tested it out: It turned out that M4a has a protection circuit at 100A on the speaker side.I cannot get any more watts out from it even if i raise the voltage to 15,7V. But at 1 ohm (rise to 2,67) i get 5700w ( +2500W more!!) (43,4A 123,9V) so the +2V did a HUGE different. lowest voltage i got was a 13,8V (measured from terminals, sith FLUKE min/MAX -setup). Measurements: 13.10.2015 (outside temperature 10c) 14v system (15,7V float, 13,8V lowest) 0,25ohm: 159,55dB @44 (99,4A, 71,4V W=7107, Z=0,71) 1ohm: 157,30dB @44 (43,4A, 123,9V, W=5749, Z=2,67)Now i will be making more room for more batteries and probably another M4a. We will be having snow any day now so this season is over 159,78dB was the highest and i cannot get that anymore as the weather is so much colder now. www.peranurkka.net

db_speakerbox
That's a bummer, you were so close! Still very impressive man, 159 is still freakin loud. Did you try out all the ports or just a few?

Did you try out all the ports or just a few? I tested them all at 1ohm (155dB+) and chose the one that worked the best :/ BTW! We have opened a fanshop, where you can buy apparel that has our logos in it. 220+ and more coming every day. db_speakerbox
If you are taking a pair of mids out of the dash and upgrading the tweeters, why not just move them to the back? Also, if you want to help kill some noise in the cabin, do a layer of MLV over the deadener. That should make a huge difference.
Mrop
Good point there, but i really want my doors to look more agressive than now.3xmids 1-2 highs / door is enough.i am getting these to the back of the car:http://www.ddaudio.com/products/mobile-audio/voice-optimized/vo-ccx8 so i can get fullrange -speakers to the back also. May i ask, what is MLV ? www.peranurkka.net
