TheNewbie
Well.. recently on my Mitsubishi Eclipse I decided it would be a "cool" idea to take off my muffler. So I cut the muffler off, and left some pipe before the Cat. I'm starting to get really annoyed with the sound honestly, it's horrible, I can hear the air flutter, not to metion it seems to have killed my gas milage. My question is, is it possible to get a throaty sound from my Eclipse? It's a 4 Cyl.. 2.0 non turbo DOCHE 16 Valve motor. I don't know much at all in the exhaust or mechanics catagory. Any input is great. This is the sound Im looking for. Quote Check out my build log: http://www.stevemead...60#entry1958353 Different folks have different strokes. Miguels
a 4 banger is never going to sound like a v8 or even a 6 cylinder yours will sound like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sceBTjlvwno Edited June 14, 2012 by Miguels Quote my logshttp://www.stevemead...-my-new-set-up/my blow through loghttp://www.stevemead...future-updates/ 96 ss http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/164094-96-impala-ss-build/
TheNewbie
Yeah.. Was afraid of that. Damn well I could live with that sound I suppose. Sounds like that now honestly. But web I drive it as its at 4-6 Rpms sounds completely dif, it's literally a single tone till it shifts eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee shift. Just kills me. If I put a muffler on now, without putting the piping back on it it will still pass smog correct? Since there would be a cat, and muffler? hdorre
Us N/A 3000GT and Stealth guys use Dynomax and Magnaflow single in/dual out mufflers. From there, we run straight pipes to each side of the car for the tips. Then again, we have V6s.
