If I had a similar car, I'd go for that setup. As for an alternator, I'm not one of the guru's obviously but there's 3 sites people on here mention that I'm sure at least one of them would be able to put an alternator together for ya. As for power, not sure if you have but first thing people mention is the big 3 upgrade and then battery. Upgrading your battery to an HO battery should help some as far as power. But that's my 2 cents as a true nooby. I'm sure others will come around and either put my foot in my own mouth or give better examples of what I said.
