heyy every one, i got a question for running your stereo in your house when its not in your car.

my teacher has a supplier of many neat little gadgets and one happens to be 12 V power supplies,

what type of amperage would i need to run it? if its just like one amp and one sub?

just a wee bit lower then what my amp can take?

if any one can help its would be very appreciated

It completely depends on what current rating your amplifier is. However, most 12v DC Lab power supplies only give 10-15 amperes DC. Most car audio amplifiers specify a 40-60 ampere input rating. Please check your amplifier's current draw then match that to the RMS output of a DC power supply. However, you will find it cheaper just to buy home audio/AC gear.

Cheers,

Mick

There are some power suplies that are made for demoing 12v equipment that have a higher rating like 50 - 60 amps, but they are very expensive, could deff get a better home setup for the money....but on the other hand if you get the power supply for free and have a small amp that only draws about 15 amps, go for it
