mlgreen Posted July 30, 2012 Report Posted July 30, 2012 Alright, in my quest to eliminate rattle in my Dodge Charger I've decided to do a forward firing box sealed from the trunk. The sub is a single Fi Q 12" powered off an MB Quart 1500D. It will be in a 2 cubed box tuned to 32 hz. However, I'm intrigued by what I've read about 4th order bandpass boxes. I'm thinking of having one built and firing the port through the rear factory 8" oem sub opening directly into the cabin. With this set up, will it still have to be sealed off from the trunk to eliminate rattles? I guess what I'm asking is will the bass be completely channeled through the port. That way all I would have to do is seal the port itself off from the trunk into the cabin?

That way all I would have to do is seal the port itself off from the trunk into the cabin? I literally did the same exact thing in my charger during the last couple weeks look at this thread .... First of all I will warn you that the sub hole in the rear deck is not exactly 8 inches.. its under, so you have to butcher and cut it up to fit an 8 inch aero if thats what you were thinking,, its also somewhat hard to align the port going up through that hole.....What I did instead was make a wall directly in between the cabin and trunk and mounted it, I then cut a hole big enough for my port in the wall and made a forward firing port in my box that fit flush into the hole in the wall and then alls I had to do was seal the wall...And yes if you do a good job sealing all of the sound will be in the cabin....Before I blew my amp the other day when I would play my subs full tilt with the trunk open to check for rattles you could not even feel the bass with the car sealed up because none was going into the trunk..

Nice job! yep it is on LX forums thanks! and nope I'm not to avoid cutting up my car...Instead I made it so my seats can still go up with the wall behind them
